Learning day by day

Sopwell House

So after taking C to her swimming lesson this morning we (Jim and I) set off for our first childfree overnight trip since before C was born! Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, so we headed into St. Albans and had a mooch around the shops and a child free quiet drink in one of St. Albans pubs.

We headed back, were given our room key and promptly realised we had been give a room suitable for disabled guests. Not a massive problem, but there was no bath and a long uninterrupted bath had been on my list of goals for the weekend. So off went J, down to reception and came back with another set of keys for a very nice bedroom just along the hall with a bath.

After a wander round and along the corridor of football memorabilia we headed to the very nice, but very busy spa. Two hen nights made seating at a premium, but the steam room and Jacuzzi were very nice. J tried out the pool, but it was a bit on the chill side for me.

After a little relaxing and getting ready watching the truly awful performance of my football team we headed downstairs for a drink before dinner. Dinner was lovely, there were long pauses between meals, which normally would stress me as keeping the kids busy would be my priority, but as there were no kids the pauses were lovely chances to talk.

Unfortunately when we got back to the room I could not sleep due to the noise from the wedding two floors below. It was so loud that before J fell asleep (he can sleep anywhere anytime, through anything!) we were playing 'name that tune', I however didn't get to sleep until nearer 1am. So much for 8hours straight sleep.
