Still heather…
but the glory has gone out of it as it finishes its season, even in the lovely morning sun. The sheep here had been clipped and marked and dipped. The purple marking had coloured their whole fleece and they were well camouflaged in the heather!
There are still Small Copper, Peacock and Speckled Wood butterflies around.
The birds are all starting to moult . A small island on the small Lochan was covered in Mallard, about sixty all gathered under the trees. They must feel vulnerable not being flighted.
A lovely sunny Autumn day.
