Powick
We tried somewhere different for coffee this morning, Bennett 's Willow Barn. Just outside Worcester it has a very nice cafe with tables overlooking the water. As we went for a stroll after our drink I saw the chimney of Powick Mills across the fields. Built in 1894 this hydroelectric plant generated most of Worcester's needs. This tailed off with the onset of the electric tram system in the city in the early 1900s and finally closed down in the 1930s. More recently it was converted into apartments, though the original chimney remains intact.
After lunch we went over to Emma's to see her and Raffy. He is full of energy and will play for two or three hours. Lovely to see and be with.
