Early morning in the park
When I got home yesterday, the electricity had gone off, so I wandered around the house resetting the clocks. For some reason, instead of setting my alarm for 5.45, I set it for 5.15...
So, I was up and at 'em, and driving past the Parkinson steps at 6.45. There are four streets which are part of campus, but which aren't classed as campus parking (for which I don't have a permit and, not having offspring, am unlikely ever to be gifted one). As you might imagine, with 7,500 staff and far, far fewer parking spaces, these streets are a hotly contested space where a bit of bad parking by someone will cost someone else a space damn them. So, there I was at 6.50 thinking yay, a space! But no, not a space in sight.
Dear lord, I thought to myself, what flippin' time do I have to get here to get a space??? Should I just bring a sleeping bag and have done with it?
But no, since it's not a holiday week, or July/August, there was no space for me. So off I tootled, down past the park, to a space a mile away. But what a lovely sight on walking towards the park - early morning sunlight, a few hardy souls out exercising or walking to work, and steam gently rising from the grasses.
Well worth the walk :-)
