Diary of an Edinburgher

Lunch

Gosh the hedge looks lovely!

Today we popped out for lunch once Archie had set off for his day out with Elizabeth. We went to Decanter in Bruntsfield. I’ve never been there before, though JR has. It was a short stroll, with the first Christmas present bought on the way. The day was warm, muggy, and looked like it was going to rain at any moment. But it didn’t.

We had a very nice lunch, great menu, and I didn’t complain about the music! The speaker was quite near us, but it was mainly jazzy, no screeching divas, and it was quiet! I congratulated the owner, who said that his speakers were all individually controlled, which is what I think should be the rule, but of course it’s a more expensive set up.

The postman delivered a parcel for Hazel, as she was out, and he knew that she knew us - he’s seen her in our front garden several times. Sensible chap! So she came over later to pick it up. We also had a wee chat about holidays, as we’re pretty excited about our re-arranged cruise.

I like to keep Archie’s eyebrows under control - though the proper ‘Crufts’ style is to have the eyes half hidden. But just look at them - why would you want to hide those - he looks like he’s got eyeliner on.
