I went over to my friend’s this morning for a mammoth apple chopping session using the apples from the trees in their garden The apple press is available from the village hall for a donation. We stopped for lunch and then I headed into town to get some shopping and then I prepared supper for us once back home, trying to use most of the garden produce ... a beetroot tarte tatin, a potato salad, a beetroot coleslaw, a tot of sloe gin, and the first taste of the Ivan chai (which I really like). I inflicted a trial run of the wedding attire on them with the sparkly shoes that arrived today. In the end I’ve borrowed a dress off my sister, who is much more used to clothes, a ‘shrug’ (is that what they’re called? It’s a whole new lexicon to me), borrowed from B, who is more used to clothes, and found a cheap sparkly pair of shoes (hopefully not produced by child labourers somewhere but I’ve got a bit desperate and have barely bought anything other than walking boots for years). We finished up with the best joke of the week, that I have booked into Magdalen College but am probably overqualified.
