Kitchen nearly done
Went to buy the backsplash today for the kitchen at Manchester.
Decided that because the top cabinets are a little higher than normal (about 3 inches because the ceiling is 8'3"), then the backsplash becomes 15" rather than 12". Which means more tiles. And we usually use these glass coloured tiles (that can be seen on the wall).
The glass tile (the ones with the little bits) are about $4 a piece on clearance, as opposed to $10 when not on clearance. But then we'd need 15-20 of them. Or we could use 57c ceramic tiles to cover the majority and use the coloured tiles for a bit of trim.
But then we decided that because the backer to the cooker costs $30 (its a metal sheet), that we might as well just tile the whole wall and be done with it.
Still need to do the kitchen counter side which I'll do first thing tomorrow once I have some clips to hold the counter in place.
All in all, one wall tiled and the whole kitchen backsplash is coming in for less than $80-90, which is less than the $190 or so in the budget.
If the picture looks odd, closest to the camera will go a cooker with hob. The top of the cooker should be about where the line of pretty tiles are. In the far corner goes the fridge.
Popped in to see a tenant this morning, the dreaded landlord inspection. Which we downgraded to "we need to put a new air filter in, and replace a door lock", which meant the stress came off. However, the house was immaculate - a massive relief.
It really does appear that the neighbour opposite is a trouble maker and that's throwing me a bit and I've rather unfairly taken it out on the tenants. (Although there are still too many people at the house). Planning my revenge on the neighbour though.
