Year Three

What a day....

Well, if you haven't seen the news, our town was flooded last night. We've made the top of the news in the US, and we're definitely in today's Daily Mail Online so should be in the paper itself in the UK tomorrow. We're probably on a bunch of other news outlets.

So how much rain gets you in the news? 26" in 24 hours, including 15" in 6 hours, including 6" in 1 hour.

Want some idea of the thunderstorm? It started at about 430pm yesterday (when I did my blip), and carried on till 5amish. Pensacola was struck by lightning something like 300,000 times, with a peak of over 1,000 hits per minute for a 90 minute stretch! The thunderclaps never stopped.

Unbelievable weather.

Loads of roads washed away, and annoyingly - our bridge down the road is gone! (Which is the blip). Washed away when one of the swamps filled up with probably 300-400m gallons of water.

Most tenants survived so that was good. But whilst sorting out a couple who got a bit flooded, we got THAT call! Wife took the call - the BIG call we've been waiting for. We'll see where that goes.

And then the disaster of the afternoon - whilst walking JimBob, he tugged his lead just at the wrong point, ran after a semi truck, and headbutted it. He hasn't broken anything but his head is cut up, ankle cut up, and lots of bruising. He just looks sore. Plus he's limping quite badly.

Vet cleared him with "you are one lucky dog!". We have a bunch of drugs for him. I'll be reliving that moment he hit the wheel of the truck for some days to come.

He's on some sedatives for the next 24 hours as he's probably in a lot of pain, so he's utterly out of it right now. Probably best.
