The heatwaves have hit us like COVID variants, bunching up, one after the other like buses leaving the school gates at 5 p.m.

This boy came out of the blue, briefly presaged by a wind that spun the canal trees and lifted the dust vertically off the track in front of the Moulin.

Myrt and Jeff had brought a bottle of every colour  and we sat the storm out drinking them up.
