Caution

Irrespective of any political bias I am always intrigued by the choreography of a change in PM in the U.K. (I even followed these events live when we lived in Poland.)

Today’s change in PM involved an early valedictory speech from Mr Johnson in Downing Street before flying to Aberdeen to travel to Balmoral to tender his resignation to HM The Queen.

Fog at Aberdeen airport delayed the new PM Ms Truss’s plane leading to a longer than planned “hiatus” while the monarch held the reins of state until Ms Truss arrived to be invited to form a new government.

The irony of this changing of the Prime Ministerial guard taking place on Royal Deeside, Scotland was not lost by political commentators on both sides of the border.

I fear that caution may now be in short supply as we are all plunged into a turbulent autumn.
