Mount Ainos

It’s wonderfully cathartic to be back in Lixouri on Cephalonia, albeit in different circumstances. This was the holiday that should have been in May 2020. Having to take a ferry to the Paliki peninsula gives it an extra frisson. Robert, who was not so besotted with the place as me, said it was just like Dunoon, he does have a point.
Mount Ainos, the highest peak at 1600 or so metres is visible everywhere, I have no intention of hiking it. I intend to max my recently acquired loyalty card at the local gelatos, blood orange thus far and as delicious as ever. It’s good to see most, if not all, of the local business thriving in this hardworking Greek community that’s not exclusively dependent on tourism.
