Wellington Airport (Sorry missed the planes)

This was something new as we had never been up this hill behind the airport. It was walking with a friend who knew stuff that we surely didn't and we actually took a bus up here and then walked down a very muddy track (with sneakers on) and then around the base and finally to the Spruce Goose Which is a classy Cafe in the bay past the airport and another bus back into town. This airport was started  in 1956 when some houses were removed and the hills bulldozed in 1958 and a cost of 3 million pounds. It opened in 1959 replacing the previous airport that was an hour and a half out of town at Paraparaumu.
The extra was from yesterday and a reminder that Bikes are an extremely steal-able asset.
A lovely day with none of the rain threatened.
