J came round and we put the mirror up behind the statue and also trellis on he garden shelter. The bricks were really hard to drill into so was pleased J did it. We then filled both raised beds with top soil - I’d estimated how much was needed several times but it soon became apparent that we wouldn’t have enough! We headed off to Wickes for 26 more bags, got them all in (perfect estimate this time!) , did some planting and a bit of tidying up and then it started to pour with rain. Excellent timing! J went home and i pottered a bit and saw the news about the Queens health. Did more sorting when the rain stopped. I need some more plants for the raised beds but think they will be looking good by next year. Went to return something to Homesense. Heard the news about the Queen’s death on the way and when I arrived they were closing, presumably out of respect? Lidl and Dunelm still open though. Interesting to reflect on what changes we will see in the monarchy over the weeks and months ahead. It seems like she had a pretty good final summer at Balmoral. No matter what your views are of the monarchy she deserved that after her long years of service
