Queen Elizabeth II

Today ended with a change that we knew was coming but nevertheless has left our nation shocked and grieving.  Earlier today we were told that Her Majesty was under medical supervision at Balmoral and 'comfortable'.  By the afternoon her children and grandchildren had assembled there and at 6.30pm it was announced that The Queen had died peacefully this afternoon.  The end of an era, expected, but somehow deeply shocking.
I at 70, have known no other monarch.  Some here will not be monarchists or have lives so far distant from the UK that this news does not seem so relevant.  Her sense of duty though, her wish to serve her people cannot be denied and she will be greatly mourned and missed.  Farewell, Your Majesty and thank you.
