wonders of the sea

Day 2 in Stralsund. We visited the museum house on Mönchstr 38. The house is from the 14th century and had been restored recently. The restoration doesn't show a particular point in time but exposes the layers throughout time. The house features an internal hoist. The wheel is still the original (see extra) and was used during the restoration. Lots of rain was forecast for the afternoon so we went to the Oceaneum. It's really excellent exhibition on life in the Baltic Sea (and the North Sea) with pickled specimen, glass models, ship models and huge tanks. One of the most impressive fish tanks contained floating plastic. There was a clear message: we need to look after our world and we cannot continue like now.
