Finally, he sleeps
After yesterday's traumatic evening with the plastic lampshade we did some research and discovered comfy collars and comfy cones - soft lampshades or inflatable collars designed to inhibit licking and scratching wounds after an operation but allowing pets to drink, eat, sleep and bump into stuff softly.
It's a public holiday today in France so even if we could find something comfy we weren't going to be able to buy it, and delivery from Amazon was 2 to 6 days. So we made one instead. Jonty's not wild about it, but he's had supper, walked, drunk, suggested a ball chuck might be in order (no way!) and is getting orientated to his odd, new, inflated size.
We've no idea if he can reach his stitches because he hasn't tried yet but so far so good. The collar, which attaches to his own collar, is light, soft, strong, washable, silent, puffy and, though I say it myself, rather pretty.
Paws and fingers crossed.
