Good Bye Barcelona, Hello...

Praha! Our first day in Prague was really more of an evening in Prague as we took the midday flight out of Barcelona. Mum and Gary have already been here a couple of days and are pretty well oriented in this very confusing city, so when we arrived they took us on a short tour of the neighborhood (Old Town) and out to a casual dinner of pub food and delicious Czech beer. The city is absolutely gorgeous--there seems to be a palace, a cathedral, and a couple of gold-trimmed towers on every street! We're staying in an amazing location, although apparently Mum and Gary had some troubles with the hotel before we arrived. First the hotel hadn't reserved a room for them, then the room they gave them didn't have beds for all of us, then the next room hadn't been cleaned, then the next room had some other problem, and finally they landed in our current apartment-style room! We have two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a glass sunroom, so we feel like we lucked out!

This photo is taken from the Charles Bridge, which we passed by on our mini tour of the neighborhood and is very close to the hotel. On either end of this gothic bridge are bridge towers and the entire length is lined with baroque statues creating an alley-effect. The bridge was constructed in the 14th and 15th centuries, so now the original statues are in a museum and have been replaced with replicas (which are now very old themselves!).
