Granny bakes

The queen brings my gran into mind and I've been thinking of her a fair bit. This also triggers a longing for granny's baking. My cousin inherited her cookbook and as a wedding gift she wrote out some of her famous baking recipes. There's only one problem – on some, such as the gingerbread and the shortbread, the list and amount of ingredients are there, but not the method. So, it was a bit of guesswork as I set about baking both. However, the gingerbread is delicious and, I would say, quite near granny's. The shortbread is a little too crumbly for me, but I think I know what I could do to sort that. Yum! It's been tricky not to eat the lot.
