Sunset

Saturday
I thought this sunset from tonight was appropriate for today as we mark the end of an era and the beginning of another.
We watched the Proclamation of King Charles III .I had to keep reminding myself that this was real , not a tv drama , not a re-enactment with trumpeters playing, people in funny hats and wigs all standing on a balcony where the windows had been removed from the old building so that they could stand outside.
I smiled as King Charles gestured for the ink fountains to be removed and handed his papers quickly to his son. They were in the way and not sure why they were needed although he did dip the pen in before signing one of the papers, nobody else did. I also noticed he popped the pen into his inside pocket ,not one but twice, wonder if they asked for them back lol.
There were hearty cheers outside of God Save the King and singing of the National Anthem. It’s not too bad getting used to singing King instead of Queen but the line ‘ send him victorious ‘ I keep forgetting .
A walk at the Point tonight as the sun was setting. A horse had been on the beach earlier leaving it’s tracks heading into the sunset , it felt meaningful.
