Coot with chick
Once I'd sorted my latest in a long line of punctures before leaving work this evening, I headed to the lake to enjoy the peace and early evening sunlight to photograph the birdlife. I seem to have caught the blip bug again and spent nearly an hour trying to get the perfect shot.
It was fairly quiet apart from an aggressive male Mute Swan who flew over to challenge me, plus this Coot family which kept skirting in and out of the reedbed.
The speed with which the seasons progress always catches me out and with the cold start to spring, it was a surprise to not only see these Coot chicks but also Canada Geese with four goslings.
