Remembering

Carried from yesterday.

The Rick Rescorla Memorial In Hayle is the scene of a commemoration service every year on the anniversary of 9/11.
Rick Rescorla was born in Hayle, as a young man he joined the British Army choosing the Parachute Regiment. Deciding it was not for him his next career move was the Metropolitan Police.
Moving on once again he served in the Rhodesian Army for a short time before emigrating to the United States. Once there he enlisted in the U.S Army joining the Seventh Cavalry and winning the Silver Star at the battle of Ia Drang in 1965. The battle was made famous in the Mel Gibson film; We Were Soldiers Once.
He then settled down, living in New York and working for Morgan Stanley. He made himself a name as being a stickler for safety drills but on the day of the 9/11 attack all the Morgan Stanley people escaped due to the practise runs he put them through.
Sadly on re-entering the tower one last time it collapsed and today Rick remains listed as one of the missing.

Otherwise a quiet day, e-mail ‘ping pong’ around the gig club and some admin to catch up on. All completed after a 6.5 mile walk for Paddy and I.
