New for us

As you may realise we often come to the Lakes, but as Reggie is getting older we have to do less strenuous walks and make life that little bit easier for him.

Today we caught the Haverthwaite steam Railway to the bottom of Lake Windermere and caught a boat up to Bowness (and did the return journey later). The weather was much better than forecast and the light was gorgeous again.
We haven’t stopped in Bowness for a long while and today reminded us why we haven’t. Two Thai restaurants, 3 Indian, at least 2 Chinese, an Italian, and a dominos Pizza place , a Harris Tweed shop (lovely but not Lakeland!) and no Cumberland sausage to be seen. All very touristy and not related to the Lakes. The local tea and coffee made us giggle as I haven’t seen either crop growing on the Lakeland Fells.

On the way back a jet flew over us - I almost captured it on camera ( see extra )

A nice change but feeling disappointed as to what people seem to want when they visit our beautiful countryside, or is it just they aren’t given a choice?
