A great day of wine-tasting!
We've had a fabulous day going to a nearby wine-growing village called Chexbres. We had booked our places for wine-tasting and visiting the wine-grower's cellars as he explained all the different steps needed to produce an excellent wine!
The main photo is the 'vigneron' , or wine grower and maker, with his lovely wife and two boys. They were dressed in traditional out fits for the big Wine-growers' festivities which only happen once every 25 years!
After learning about wine-growing for a good hour, we went inside for the wine tasting. We were also served cheese, salami and bread. The wines were excellent: the whites before the meal and then the reds with our meal. We ordered two cartons of different wines which we really enjoyed tasting and which we shall enjoy back home during several months!
Such a lovely day out and wonderful autumn weather, sunny but cool.
Extras:
- the wine maker showing us the first step of grape fermenting
- checking the quality of the liquid and its density and colour
- the wine-maker and his wife
- the gorgeous view over the lake as we waited for our train home to arrive.
