More duckiness
Dan, the king of scavengers, found 3 of these kiddie pools at the dump a couple days ago. Well, it didn't take us long to get one filled up for the ducks. They love to have a bit more water. They have been in together a couple times but seem to like a bit of solitude. Nancy is in the pool and Sluggo is standing guard. He's tilting his head so he can see who is up above taking a picture. Nancy just hung out this morning in there. And then she will start splashing water all over herself and flapping her wings. It's a lot of fun to watch. Sluggo waits until she is done before he gets a turn or he goes in the smaller mud tub. Such a gentleman...
The chickens will get one filled with sand for the winter for their dust baths... I just have to keep the cat away from it!
Today was a wonderful fall day. We had temperatures in the 30s last night with a slight frost but not much. Rain is coming so this was a glorious day.
Dan and I saw the most stunning thing today. It must have been close to 50 hawks swirling on a thermal up above us. We decided they must be migrating since they generally are solitary. I googled it and it's true that they can congregate together like then when migrating. They were too far up for a photo and I have no idea, sadly, what type of hawk but it was so cool. Then they streamed off and were gone.
