Fifty-Two Years

Fifty-two years is a long time to be friends.
Todays photograph was taken in 1971 on the playing fields outside HMS Caledonia in Rosyth, Fife, Scotland.
It shows the Royal Navy Scottish Command U21 Rugby Team.
In fact most of us were either not quite eighteen or only just, we went on to win the Inter-Command Championship and the Wildfire Trophy.
Why are we looking at it today?
I travelled to the Glyn Valley Crematorium today for my friend Jeff’s funeral and then on to the Wilcove Inn, Torpoint where we could reminisce over one of natures good guys.
Jeff, shown in the back row, extreme left, was such a good bloke, liked by all who knew him.
Some of us at the funeral hadn’t met since we left training in 1973 but as is the way with old friends within minutes we were chatting as if we had only seen each other last week.

Overnight with my daughter Sarah and son-in-law Manolo. Chinese takeaway and an early night.
