A bit of catching up in the increasingly autumnal garden this morning.

Then I had lunch with a former neighbour, Samina, and her daughter Mariyah. Mariyah turned eighteen recently and will start an architecture degree course this coming week. She's buzzing with excitement - it's wonderful to see it. These two have had a tough road together, to get to this point. No one has done them any favours, they've had a lot of obstacles to overcome. We celebrated with 'mocktails' and a slap-up Turkish meal.
