Camper LV
Started the day just south of Le Touquet and drove up to begin our tunneling out of France. But not before filling up with Diesel which the French government have kindly reduced by 30 cents a litre and some shopping at Carrefour as expected funeral closures on the other side. On the way near Calais the radio just happened to be tuned to BBC and we could actually get a signal across the Channel - I felt a little sorry for the Commentators who were obviously going to have to perform a rolling narration of events which for most of the time consisted of describing nothing more interesting than paint drying. I am sure the visual depiction was very good for those who enjoy the pomp circumstance and privilege but the radio version was certainly a labor of love.
We had a strange hiccup at the tunnel terminal when we were trying to go through passport control. All the lanes had red crosses and people were getting out of their cars - we finally realised that the British Passport control had downed tools out of respect during the funeral or at least had seen it as a good opportunity for a smoke and a coffee - and so their French counterparts did the same and we were stuck until it finished.
The rest of the journey went smoothly and we were able to meet up with LV in Cobham and then on to a delightful pub ‘The Green Dragon’ outside Cirencester for a meal to start our mini holiday in Hereford. Photo showing LV experiencing van life on our 3rd bed - which is the first time we had used it.
