Oslo
Two blippers - Winsford and 1bluebell - have sent us a shot to represent Oslo in this series of pictures of places mentioned by Lorna Lloyd in her Diary of the war. Both feature the Oslo Opera House. Is this a coincidence or some sort of coded message? It's been a difficult decision to select the one to blip, but in the end we have chosen that supplied by 1bluebell. Thank you!
Lorna writes about Oslo in two diary entries in April 1940. The first is on the 9th when the city surrendered to Germany, and then Lorna mentions the Oslo fjord on 13th with reference to the sinking of the Gneisenau and damage to the Sharnhorst. You can listen to the full diary entries with contemporaneous news coverage in Episode 5 of our podcast series.
There are still many other places from all around the world that we would like to add to this journal. Please do take a look at the list and see if you can contribute to this fun game of Blipfoto bingo by sending a picture to Hazel at h.hall@napier.ac.uk. Thank you!
