... in the large enclosure of the sprawling castle at the center of Cardiff, which we entered this cloudy afternoon. (A bit of the high surrounding wall is visible on the left.) The Wicki article gives a sense of the evolving historical significance of the image, which seems to have first appeared around the middle of the first millennium.  It appears most notably of course on The Flag of Wales, which one sees everywhere here.
