2022 Thursday — Collage of a Day
This is Day 22 of our backyard project. A lot happened today so I'm capturing it in a collage.
Mercado and his construction crew were here at 8:00, a little later than usual. Because they would be using noisy equipment, they did not want to start too early so they were avoiding disturbing the neighbors. Mercado explained what they were planning to do today on the top level of our backyard hill. Then he was off and gone to another job that one of his other crews is working on. He said he'd be back later in the morning, and he was.
He arrived just before noon in one of the big trucks and he was preparing to go into San Luis Obispo to purchase 4 more pallets of Allan Block for the creating of the last of our retaining walls. He asked Mr. Fun to ride along with him. But a young man was due here between 1:00 and 2:00 to wash our car. I told Mr. Fun I'd be glad to meet the car washer and gjve him my key to the car and open the garage. So Mr. Fun and Mercado were in the big truck and headed south on Hwy #1 to SLO. Of course Mr. Fun was sending me an occasional video of their journey.
It wasn't long and the car washer arrived; his name is Flame. We met him because his dad is the plumber who assisted Mercado in putting a sewer line in our backyard project.
Flame got busy washing the car and pretty soon the guys were back in the big truck with 4 pallets of heavy Allan Block and soon many of Mercado's workers were busy unloading the truck and getting the blocks onto our property. Flame was getting 2 months of dirt off our little Honda CRV and when he was done, Mercado wanted us to go with him for a meal at Martin's. And so we did. We enjoy spending time with Mercado.
It was slightly after 7:00 p.m. when we watched the tail lights on Mercado's truck fade away.
And that's the story of Day 22.
