Taking it easy on a stressful day
A very wet day. Managed a walk but on the way back Fletch had a bit of a dizzy spell . Managed to walk him home.
We let him sleep it off.
During the afternoon M suddenly got chest pains. Checked his BP and it was 175.. phoned the Drs and the receptionist said go to A&E.
Dashed up and within 10 minutes hed had a blood test and ECG. The sign outside said 45 mins waiting time.
Sat feeling hopeful.
After 2 hours the sign said waiting time 2hrs 15 minutes.. then on to 3 hours and still we sat there waiting. Some people had been waiting for 2 hours longer than us. Hardly anybody was called because ambulances had brought in patients and they were being seen first. ( fair enough),
Gradually people gave up and asked for a discharge form and left.
I went and found someone who said the dr had seen the results and if they had been serious M would have been called already.
More and more people came in . Listening to them it was obvious not all really were emergencies. One had bruised his thumb . A couple of people came in because they had 'bad back's
As more patients arrived by ambulance the waiting time got longer . At 10 o'clock we were told it would be midnight before M could see anybody.
All this time M hadnt had anymore pains and not felt worse. The nurse said all that would happen when he did finally see a dr would be he would just talk through the results and suggest he see the GP
So, we left. .
Both hungry and exhausted. Fletch was ok despite being left for so long. We were too tired to have more than a bowl of soup.
At least M seems ok and he'll phone the dr tomorrow.
