Hidden
There are six people in this shot. Five are hidden in and behind sheds and behind trees. One isn’t hidden at all.
This is M who is project managing a series of working bees at the property of friends who have major health challenges. After 30 years of living here they need to sell their beautiful rural property so that they can live somewhere less demanding and closer to health services.
To give them a better chance of getting a reasonable price there are 16 of us involved in clearing and tidying the land over the next six weeks. There are 2 acres of orchards, veg patches, flower beds, a daffodil lawn, more orchards, small-scale stock yards and pig pens…and sheds galore. Plus fences, gates and doors in need of paint.
I spent the morning ferreting for iron sheeting in the undergrowth and then digging rank grass and docks out of the pig pens. Heavy work.
Bean was in her element: the only dog there and adored by everybody present. She’ll be very happy to return when we’re next on the rota in a fortnight.
After a hearty lunch I headed into my garden to sow melon, squash, cucumber, bean and sweet corn seeds, amongst other things.
The forecast which promised us a beautiful warm sunny week turns out to have been badly wrong. Pah. Thick clouds and cool easterly winds are set in. But the clocks changed last night and it is wonderful to have daylight after 7pm.
