Meet Joyce !

Joyce is the 3rd person in the work restructure who is likely to lose her job.

She is however looking particularly happy today as this weekend she is going to stay with her old school friend who lives in Coverack, Cornwall. She loves it there & intends to retire there one day ...obviously not yet as she is far too young !

Joyce alway goes to Cornwall in early May as she likes to either take part in (or see) the Furry Dance in Helston. Apparently Hal an Tow as it is also known (or the Floral Dance) is the oldest pagan ritual performed in the UK. It had died out but was revived in 1930.

It is the celebration of the arrival of spring & the departure of winter & involves 80 or so couples dancing through the town (starting at 7am) and entering various houses & shops chasing out the remains of Winter .

I think actually it is a good excuse to drink lots of ale ! Here's to you Joyce ......Cheers !
