Famous 12th century castle built to keep the rebellious natives out .

Then a strategic prize in the war of the Roses, had the war gone the other way, it would've been used to deter the armies of the house of Lacaster.

Now it is still used as a fortification designed to keep the rebellious locals at bay by the 21st Century deterrent of exorbitant ticket prices which keep the poor and the unwashed away.
