Gourd Yesterday, Figs Today!

I have to confess that I don't like figs very much, or maybe they don't like me. I bought these on Sunday for 70p each with the intention of taking some photos of them. I had a conversation with the male checkout assistant who wasn't sure what to say when I told him what I wanted them for.The first thing that strikes you is how strange they are to handle. I was expecting them to be quite solid. The deep purple colour is quite stunning, though not captured at it's best here. Cut in half they reveal a wonderful juicy interior.
