Day 272/22. Giant African Millipede.
These are around 15cm long.
A recent addition in the hothouse at Marwell where they are tasked to clean up the dead vegitation.
The Giant African Millipede is one of the largest species of millipede and originates from Western Africa. Here it inhabits rain forests and subtropical environments, where it burrows away and resides amongst its favourite meals of rotting wood and forest floor decay.
Although the name millipede means “thousand-feet,” most giant African millipedes 'only' have about 300 to 400 legs.
