A Fern Finale

The lovely ferns in front of the house are in their final act.  They turn in stages from purple to gold.  Quite lovely.  I brought a small clump of them from my late husband's house in 1996 and they have been spreading and filling in since then.  They are always the last to be cut back each autumn.  John has begun the annual cut back and will continue next week as we tidy up the beds for their long winter's nap.  October begins as September ended with a chilly frost.
