Needle match

It was the last game of the UK football season for teams in the Championship (second division). My team, Nottingham Forest, had to beat their bitter rivals, Leicester City, to win a place in the "play-offs" and a chance to be promoted to the Premiership.

The tension was getting to all of us - especially this young fan in my chosen photo.

One of the young kids who sits behind me, Ella, was one of the team mascots today. They meet the players and run on with the team at the beginning of the game. She was really excited and had a wonderful time - except for the result

We lost.
Our team played their hearts out - although we were yelling at them that they were giving Leicester too much room.

It was a close thing, although to be fair, Leicester played far better than we did.

We scored first

But it was not to be
They got two goals
We equalised
And right at the death, they clinched it with a third.

Never mind. We pushed them all close and right to the end

- and who really wants to be playing Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea :-(
