Common Enchantments

Black Rock Mountain Lake

We drove into Georgia today to visit Black Rock Mountain State Park for a little hiking which we ended up doing around this lake.  Across from the lake we found a cemetery with many graves marked only by standing stones. We think these may have been Civil War dead who were unknown as there were two graves with names of soldiers in the same area.

We traveled down the dirt road just to see where it went and came upon a grist mill with grits and cornmeal for sale. So we stopped, met the people who were so nice. I purchased blue corn grits.

After some map reading we decided to ride down a road following the Tallulah River.  On the way we found many barns, some used,  some falling down.

The river road started out paved but then was a bumpy, narrow, dusty dirt road. Just enough road to pull to the side if we met another car!  But the river was so pretty with huge rocks, cascades and mini waterfalls as well as flat calm pools. There were people fishing as well as two tent camping areas.

In the extras is a collage of the day.
