Yesterday l stood in the very cold wind on the Portsmouth waterfront gazing out at the nautical comings and goings. One that really caught my eye was the hovercraft that plies back and forth between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight - see extra photos. What an amazing machine, it flies up onto the beach, empties out one lot of passengers, embarks another lot and within 5 minutes roars off down the beach and into the sea again sending spray flying.
