Aphrodisias
A few hours spent this morning at Aphrodisias, another Roman site. Once again, we were amongst only a few people on site so we could see it all at leisure. The site is currently being excavated so there will be more to see in future, but there was still plenty of buildings and a superb museum where all the finds have been put on display. This long oval basin was purely decorative; in Roman times it would have been filled with water with fountains playing into it, with a line of palm trees down each side. The ultimate aim is to restore it and replant the palms.
Another drive back to Kusadisi on the Aegean coast where our hotel is next to the sea. We will be here for our final three nights/two days. I've used a phone shot as the batteries of both cameras need recharging before I can get my pictures off them!
