What a beautiful day for a roadtrip down to Totnes. Open studio day at Louise Dear's Gallery. Her work is outstandingly beautiful. My eldest introduced me to her work when she studied her during the course of her GCSE's and now my nearly youngest has discovered her too. Seeing her work for real and being able to ask questions was superb. The thing was she was so wonderfully normal and not in the least 'arty' which was so refreshing. The stories behind the paintings we could all relate to, the reason's for the layering, the subjects, and the choice of colours. Almost a why on earth didn't I think of that simplicity. But it's not simple it is fantastically creative and even to the tiniest details of the children's stickers underneath the layers of gloss paint and glitter glue, we have discovered so much more depth to the paintings and the skill of a most unique, talented, and genuine lady who is so approachable and a complete inspiration to a generation of emerging talent, most deservedly so.

And Totnes is so completely beautiful I am going to have to take a return visit
