Diary of an Edinburgher

Dougal!

Woke up to the news that Bob has COVID! He tested positive this morning, the day after their Round Scotland tour ended. Bummer! So their long anticipated visit to us is postponed. They have ensconced themselves in the Premier Inn for a couple of nights till they can fly back to Jersey - the flights were too hard to change. They’ll be able to have walks round town, though I think Bob feels pretty sh*t grotty.

Denise came for Archie and took him a big walk. He’s been having his little ‘fits’ more frequently of late, and in fact, last night, all evening, he was unsettled, hiding behind the sofa, running around, refusing to be cuddled. We gave him his pills, and eventually, after a couple of hours, he settled, and had a quiet night. We really must check up with the vet, as the ‘fits’ have been quite frequent lately. (Tonight he is cuddling happily with JR on the sofa - which is so nice).

Anne popped round mid morning and we sat in the sun outside. She’s SO disappointed that her Edinburgh holiday is cut short, we all are -  they were to spend a couple of days with us. But hopefully Bob’s Covid is a mild dose.

I spent much of the afternoon arranging our next holiday. And boy! I did a good job. We had a still deposit with Flight Centre travel agents for the long ago cancelled Rockies holiday, so we had to use that up with them. We just had about half of the total deposit due back for some complicated reason, but had got used to that fact and accepted it. But today, the travel agent said that no, we were due it ALL back!! And so the holiday we booked is actually a freebie (more or less). AND it’s a luxury hotel.

In the late afternoon, we popped down to visit Dougal and his mum. Christine’s lounge has been completely re-decorated over the past year or so (new cushions too) and it looks fabulous. Dougal was his usual (over)exuberant self. Archie ‘put up’ with him admirably. Dougal kept wanting to sit up very near Archie, though they did have a wee flurry of play on the carpet. It was a fun evening, with lots of holiday talk, bubbles and fantastic nibbles.
