Orchard swallowtail butterfly
Today our bush walking group ventured on a trail in Blackheath, home of several blippers, in the Blue Mountains. It was borderline weather to start with and got better as we went. No rain - amazing - but very wet and often rough underfoot. We went for the round trip Porters Pass walk but soon had to turn back as the steep descent was a cascade - an accumulation of months of wet weather - so we did the parallel trail on the high ground.
We saw and heard beautiful birds including rosellas, tiny finches, black cockatoos, whip birds and bell birds. We also saw waratahs (see extra) whose month to bloom is October. The first is still in bud and beautiful in its bush setting. The second was out and in a garden.
Then back home, still not raining, and there was the beautiful butterfly.
Thanks for hosting JDO.
