Petty Sessions

We had a Blipmeet today in Northleach , Gloucestershire in the Cotswolds, which is fitzbilly and Mrs Fitzbilly's home turf. They arranged to meet us at the Old Prison which houses a good cafe where we had coffee and cake and a good chat.
After that we looked around the Prison with its fine collection of old carts and agricultural machinery, the court room where the photo was taken, and the cells. It was built in the 1790s and was originally a 'modern' prison , caring for and rehabilitating offenders.
After that it was used for a number of purposes including petty sessions as recorded in these books.
Perhaps the most famous building in Northleach is its fine old Wool church, built using money made from wool production.
The cotswold Planted Towns were a series of deliberately developed towns with areas of fertile farmland planted to grow fruit and vegetables to provide an income for the Church. ( The Church in general, not just Northleach) I hadn't heard of these before.
We had a very good lunch at the Curious wine bar and Stiffknees and Mr SK came along to join us.
LooseCanon and I, fitzbilly and Mrs FB and Steveng and Gill  were also there, but would you believe it, I don't think anyone took a group photo!
The extra is a stone staircase at the prison, and some brass memorial plates in the floor of the church, depicting Thomas and Joan Bushe 1525.
