Along the riverbank.
After our half yearly visit to the dentist in Castleford this morning, we decided to continue to Naburn Locks as we were already half way there.
Enjoyed a picnic lunch before a walk along the riverbank. No sun, but still some nice reflections in the water.
Chatting to the lock keeper he said that because of the rain we have had recently, the water levels had increased. Hard to believe that back in February the place was flooded.
Also got chatting to a couple of older ladies who asked if they could walk along the path into York. Unfortunately that path is on the other side of the river, and there isn’t a bridge nearby. I’m not sure if they had intended walking all the way to York as it is over 10 miles there and back.
We walked along crunching conkers underfoot. Not as many this year, but still couldn’t resist collecting a bag full. Will put them into a dish, but unfortunately it won’t be long before they loose that lovely sheen.
The weather was dull and even started to drizzle, but still enjoyed the peace and quiet and walking by the river.
