Travel

After a meeting looking back at the new student arrivals, where I was unable to hold back criticism of how it was managed, I seemed to spend ages arranging accommodation and travel for a trip at the end of November. I've got a two-day workshop SW of Paris, and a meeting in Cambridge on the way back, so it's plane, Eurostar, train and train. Too far to stay with our friends in Montreuil, I'll have the opportunity to call in on them as I travel out.

Mid-afternoon one of our MSc students who has just arrived (from Albania) was delivered to my room, so I had the pleasure of chatting, sorting issues and taking her to the workroom where she could introduce herself to the half dozen fellow students present. Once the ball's rolling she'll be fine.

A trip to Sainsbury's after work gave me the chance to visit the Inch Park, where the trees are starting to turn.
