Diary of an Edinburgher

Phones on mute!

Only a couple of wanderings in the night by the Big Boy, so a peaceful night. JR went off to the gym, and I took the boys round to the park. I must say, it’s not tremendous fun, or even relaxing, taking both dogs out at the same time, as they’re both ardent sniffers/ piddlers, so it’s VERY slow progress. And I’m slow anyway, but still complain. In fact, on the last leg, we walked up the middle of the road so that they didn’t have an excuse to stop.

It was a beautiful day, so I wanted to get some autumnal shots. Both dogs are pretty good at posing, but a really tasty treat in my pocket helped. Archie was off the lead for a while, but not Hamish. I had to keep my eyes peeled in all directions when we sat on a bench in the sun. Dogs would appear in the distance, but the Really Tasty Treats were the trick - they didn’t even glance at any passing dogs, though none came really close to us. That would have been too much.

Hazel came over for a coffee mid-morning. She’s busy getting organised for her next holiday! It was funny, as Hamish gets panicky about phone sounds, so we all had to switch to ‘mute’, but he still clambered up on my knee to feel safe with the ‘buzzing’. He does seem to have just as many noise phobias as Archie. Is this a schnauzer thing?

In the afternoon, JR took both dogs out, then dropped  Hamish back home (he’s an old chap) and she and Archie walked down to the Meadows. I watched the rugby and read the Sunday papers.

Hamish’s parents are travelling home by train this evening, but their train now ENDS at Newcastle, so they have to get the next train to their actual destination. The joys of travelling.

We will miss Hamish when he goes home - he’s a big softie.
