Arrived at friends in Wakefield after a very long drive going round the houses to get to the A55 when leaving tan-y-fron! Went down one lane with grass growing in the middle of it! The sat nav wanted to take me on the motorway all the way but I resisted and eventually made the top of the Peak District, dark peak and went across the moors to Holmfirth then A635 and A636 to wakefield via Denny Dale. Having got completely lost round Stockport the drive took 4.5 hours instead of 2.5 hours but was still happy not to have done the motorway all the way!

We went out to dinner toHickory’s smokehouse with their granddaughter Rachael, at her request as she had finished all the assignments on her apprenticeship in Customer Care and had had glowing reports from her line manager! We all enjoyed a delicious meal but with quite loud music. Mike had a cowboy steak which came with a mushroom and a chilli pepper on top! There should have been a warning for the chilli because I tried a small piece off the end and it wasn’t hot at all but he tried some having removed the seeds and it burnt his mouth and was very unpleasant for him.

Rachael, who was having fajitas gave him some yoghurt which helped along with water and beer but it was a bad few minutes. I tried another piece and it was chilli hot but I had a cobb salad to cool it down!

Another new bedroom to enjoy!
