The spaniel and I went for an afternoon walk in Sheffield Forest parts of which seem to be the ideal habitat for the False Death Cap. It is called the False Death Cap because it is easily confused with the deadly poisonous Death Cap and the equally terminal Destroying Angel. The young fruiting bodies are supposed to smell of raw potato but I couldn't detect that.
